LONG SEASON FOR JETS SECONDARY

WELL I WENT INTO THE DRAFTING WANTING TO REPLACE ANDRE WHICH I DID WITH 2 SPEED WRS.. I GOT BOTH LT AND C I WANTED TO HELP MY ONLINE.. BUT THE AREA I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO HELP WAS MY SECONDARY.. BESIDES MY 31 YR OLD FS.. I HAVE 2 CBS THAT ARE OK BUT THE REST OF MY GUYS SUCKED AND WAS VERY SLOW.. EVEN MY 32 YR OLD SS WHO WAS 77 OVERALL BUT B POTENTIAL HAD TO GO!!! BC HE WAS ONLY 87 SPEED AND 89 ACCERELATION SO WOULD GET BEAT ALL DAY LONG DEEP.. SO IM JUST GOING TO HAVE TO HOPE MY OFFENSE CAN MATCH THE OTHER TEAMS OFFENSE!!! AND NEXT ROOKIE DRAFT WILL BE ALL DEFENSE!!!!

you and me both. brian dawkins retired and yeremiah bell went for a 84 to a 75 and is slower than molasses in the wintertime! i have two good young corners but my safeties are 61 and 64 ovr. it's gonna be a LONG YEAR. drafting two safeties next year lol.

PERSONALLY - i think spd is overated in the secondary - with smart play calling - and some quality USER SKILLS - u can make up for a lot of inadequacies - INCLUDING SPEED...

Yea speed is overated in general. I just played EZ in an epic battle and my fastest wr is 90spd, and my fastest defender has 88spd. I had a ton of picks that game, so speed is not the big factor. He also has a fast team and Tom Brady throwing the ball. Yet I was able to hang with him (lost in OT).

I think it is just how people play.. bc like in green franchise 2.. that i actually drafted and didnt pick up.. i draft all speed bc i got to have speed on my team.. on both offense and defense.. i mean i know my whole dline and LBS are like no higher then like an 71 overall.. but if u look they are all fast with like 70 plus speed on the dline and most of the LBs have 80 speed or higher and my whole secondary have 90 plus speed and they have to have catching atleast 70 plus or better... bc speed helps alot on defense if ur facing a speed team bc if u know u can keep up with his wrs then ur fine.. bc I LOVE RUNNING MAN DEFENSE ALL DAY!!! thats why i draft speed... i hate running zone unless i have to.. but i love man defense.. and on offense even if the wrs overall suck i try to grab wrs with 90 plus speed, agility, accerelation, and elusiveness and they have to have catching of 70 plus or better.. and i try to get good release to but dont always happen... but thats just my take...

thats how i made it so far in green franchise 2. and in the playoffs bc my secondary could keep up and my offense moved the ball well.. but some players can play without speed.. but i aint one of those players.. i got to have speed or my gameplan will go down the drain..

speed is NOT overrated. especially if you play man coverage. in all the leagues i'm in my number one receiver always has over 93 speed. the only exception is brandon marshall who is kinda slow but makes up with for it in other ways. when i am able to get my hands on a quality speedster (andre johnson, percy harvin) i torch defenses all day. in my league percy harvin has gone for 1300 yards and 13 td's in just 6 games. in kight's league at the end of season 2 andre johnson has 2435 yards and 29 td's. i was playing da_gr8_test earlier today and preyed on his number 2 corner and had like 150 yards with AJ in the first half then he put DRC on AJ and i only had 50 yards. my deep ball was completely eliminated and im not a dink and dunk kind of player. in DW's demaryius had like 45 receptions and 18 td's which means 1/3 of his catches are going all the way. i lost my playoff game in greener 1 because ronde barber couldnt keep up with anyone. even with safety help he was getting burned EVERY play and tomer went for like 300+ yards with a receiver that is 64 ovr or something. this game is almost based solely on speed sadly.

I disagree bro. You remember our vista lg game the other day. I ended up losing but it was tight and I did a great job on defense but look at my starters:

Based on these numbers my squad SHOULD not have been able to stick with yours. It's no secret I split man/zone about 85%/15% so my team should have gotten torched. With the exception of Scott, who was guarded by one of my 2 fast corners. No one really went off. Knox, who's advantage over my nickel corner is trememndous in terms of speed, went 3 catches for 87yds (with 1 catch being a 52yd). White, guarded by my only other speed player on D went 3 for 49 (long of 30). That game you also ran a lot of crossing routes (nothing illegal or cheesy) and my team kept up with yours. On the other side of the ball, yeah I didn't have any explosive plays, but my players were able to get open. ESPECIALLY 72spd Marcedes Lewis who led my team in receiving with 7 for 84 (long of 26).


All in all, I'm not saying there's NO advantage to having speed. I'm saying it's NOT everything. Everyone wants to use that (I used to do it too) as an excuse as to why they can't compete in certain games but it's just a scapegoat. OF COURSE I'd rather have a fast team than not. But to say that it's all about speed is wrong. There's much more that comes into play.
