5 wr set is it really SIM football now?

I just read a great stat from this past NFL season... There was a total of 46 plays all season from the 5 wr set... 44 of them were run by the Packers... I was suprised to see that only 2 other plays ALL season other than Packers had 5 wr set.

Just for the record, i am not complaining saying anyone cheesed me or anything but just bringing up an interesting stat to show how rare 5 wr sets are now.

a few of the playbooks in madden don't have 5 wr sets anymore next year it will probably be in a handful.

i run one play from mine, maybe once every other game just to give a different look. personally for me its too many damn people to pay attention to lol...

i usually only run 4 plays out of 5 wr set... 1 will be streaks with 4 wrs going deep and my te doing a double move to the inside.. 2 will be having two wrs in the middle crossing with another inside doing an stop and the outside doing streaks.. 3rd i will have 2 inside wrs doing crosses the 3rd wr doing an 7 yd in and the outside wr doing streaks.. or finally i will have my inside wr on left doing post corner, my inside wr on right doing post corner, my wr next to the inside wr doing a post so the 2 on the right cross, my outside right wr doing a stop and my outside left wr doing an in... but u always got to be careful if i dont see anything open im taking off with 1 of these guys: mike vike, pat white, jackson, dennis dixon....

My point being Saastar is NO team really runs this in any game now.. Not 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 plays... If you go back and look at the Packers vs Falcons game, i bet 25 or more of the 44 5 wr sets were in this 1 game. Assume there is 110 plays run in each game.. So approx. 28,000 play this season in the NFL and 46 were 5 wr set, that is .16%... less than 1%... so again, i was just asking is it really sim football that anyone runs any 5 wr set plays now based on what the NFL does.

atlanta still runs it occasionally, so does green bay cause yeah i saw a bit of it in their game during the season. its rare though, and is usually just designed for a short gain or rub play down around the goaline. i'd say 75% of the time its a qb draw anyways.

Other than the Packers, ONLY 2 plays ALL season in the entire NFL were run out of 5 wr set.

calm down cheddah jr.. i was just stating when i run 5 wr sets like FF was doing.. he stated he runs 1 play out of that like every other game maybe.. i was just saying when i use it.. no need to give me another thing about stats from the NFL.. just like cheddah did 3 times or more when we was talking about the qb sub rule... so i get ur point i was just saying when i use 5 wr set...

BJ, does that include plays that have the RB motion out?

No Shane.. This includes only lining up in a 5 wr set from the beginning

Gotcha. I think its more prevalent in the NFL to start 4 wide, and motion the RB out...
or 3 WR, 1 TE, and then the RB.

Interesting stat BJ. I'm always interested in trends in NFL offenses. I never really though the 5 wide was used all that often to begin with, because like fr8 said, it's more coming to see a motion man, or a TE in there moving around.

I agree.. I was suprised to see that especially considering the Pats, Colts and Saints being throw first.. I am sure injuries play a part but again, it is funny to compare real NFL vs sim for all of usl.

the thing is you only get to suit up like 45 ppl for a game not your whole 53 man roster so to have 5 wrs suit up is not really common and even if they do alot of teams starting TE is better than there 4-5 WR so thats why it happens rarely had jermicheal findley not have been hurt im sure the packers wouldn't have done it that much
