Season 2 Preview
Key Additions:
WR Santonio Holmes: By far the teams biggest acquisition, he provides a deep threat, and a go to guy on 3rd down.
MLB Kierre Roberson: Rookie has the speed to cover sideline to sideline, will be a starter from day 1.
HB Jalen Robinson: Rookie has speed and overall talent to start for many teams, but with Spiller already on the team, he will start the season on the bench.
TE Jalen Driskell: Another rookie, this TE has the skills to start now, and a huge upside.
WR Terrance Lucas: Yet another rookie, this burner will see a lot of playing time as the 3rd or 4th receiver.
Key Losses:
DE Derrick Morgan
OLB Sean Weatherspoon
Season Outlook:
After a leave of absence by the coach, the Raiders started last season in a hole, and it's possible that maximum effort was not exerted by players and coaches alike during the year. However, coach Surf promises to attend all of the games this season, as the team looks to rebound and compete for the division title. With no dominant team, the AFC West looks like it's up for grabs, and the team is excited to see what they can do with a full season. This year's version looks to be deeper and more skilled at nearly every position, as many of the young players have improved, and several new faces have been added. Will QB Matt Ryan be able to mesh with his 3 new targets? Will a HB controversy break out between incumbent start Spiller and upstart rookie Robinson? Will the under-appreciated Aaron Brown get involved in the drama? Can the defense cope with the loss of Derrick Morgan on the dline? Can MLB Roberson live up to expectations as a rookie starter in the middle of the defense? These are the questions that will be answered throughout the season, looks like it could be a wild ride in Oakland.
