Saints-Panthers Nail Biter Empty Saints-Panthers Nail Biter

The Saints saw their division rival Panthers fly into town to go toe to toe after Carolina dominated most of the first game and that's the way this one started out.

Carolina came out and scored on their first drive of the game capped by a Dustin Keller 15 yd TD. The Saints drove down field on the ensuing drive and ate up the rest of the 1st quarter and a few seconds of the 2nd and scored on a Munchie Cosh 13 yd strike to tie the game 7-7.

The Panthers next saw them chew alot of time off the clock in the 2nd as they drove down field and scored on a D Grissom 22 yd Td pass from Carson Palmer. Then the Panthers took over. They got the Saints on a 3 and out and then preceded to return the ensuing punt 70 yards for a touchdown to take a two score lead 21-7 with :56 to go in the half.  But the Saints didn't just lie down they came out trying to score and succeeded with :07 left in the half Matt Schaub connected with rookie WR Alex Smiley on a 64 yd bomb for a TD making it 21-14 at the half.

The teams traded possessions with the Panthers picking off Matt Schaub on the Sainta first drive of the half only to be shut down a few plays later.

Going into the 4th the Panthers still had a 21-14 lead as the Panthers drove down the field at will they got inside the redone. The Saints d stopped them on a 3rd and short and instead of opting for the fg the Panther offense came back out on 4th and inches and were shut down( looked to me like he got it but it was upheld on a challenge also.  The Panthers shut the Saints down pretty quick and the Panthers began to drive again but rookie RB Brandon Jones got ripped by MLB Moise Fokou and it appeared Eric Berry had fell on it but the panthers recovered. Only a few plays later Fokou ripped Jones again but this time he fell on it to give the Saints possession and the chance to tie.

The Saints drove down the field fairly quick converting 2 4th down plays and putting it in the endzone on a Munchie Cosh 22 yd Td with just :09 left on the clock tying the game 21 all. It looked like this game was headed for overtime until Carson Palmer dropped back and hit Chad Ochocinco for a 75 yd Td strike as time expired and the Panthers won.

Another nail biter for me and Villa lol.
