Hungry Titans Empty Hungry Titans

This offseason was a busy one in Tennessee. It was no secret that the Titans were playing with the league's worst secondary, the only bright spot being Ronde Barber, who retired. Coach Fisher knew things had to change coming into this season or his job could be on the line. So the Titans went out and brought in veteran superstars, Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu, along with young up and coming Corner, Glover Quinn Jr. Also beefing up the defense were the additions of stud linebacker, Keith Rivers and number five overall pick, Jordan Wilson. Rivers will make the move inside, filling a void left by the sudden 7 point regression of Stephen Cooper. Also moving around is Kamerion Wimbley, making the move from defensive end, where he has excelled the previous two seasons, back to outside linebacker, his natural position.

This is to compliment what is perhaps the league's best offense on paper. A unit that last year was either putting up 40+ a game or struggling to get a first down. It seemed there was no middle ground. Led by veteran signal caller and recent gunslinger, Donovan McNabb, the unit looks to live up to expectations. Third-year back, C.J. "Ricky Bobby" Spiller is quickly emerging into one of the league's most dynamic players. If not for a shoulder injury that kept him out last 5 weeks last season, Spiller may have been the first player to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. Along with Spiller, McNabb has a plethora of weapons to use, DeSean Jackson, Steve Smith, Hines Ward, and the unexpected return of Tony Gonzalez.

Although the Titans lost their opener, the team is keeping their heads up and their hopes high. Said Spiller after the game, "We played a tough team that made some great plays, I mean, it's gunna happen, ya know? I thought we had 'em when it was 14-14, but that poor call on Donovan killed us. His arm was clearly going forward. I'm not saying that would have changed the outcome, because that kid made a great pick six later in the game, it's just something that needs to be fixed."

"It's one game," said McNabb. "We've got 15 more."
