Saints Rebuilding for Next Year
It has got to the point in the season where the Saints have decided to hang it up for the season and start the rebuilding process. The team started off strong at 1-1 this year after a horrid year in 2010. Then seen their season slowly fade away with blowout loss after blowout loss. They traded away their big star from last year in Brandon Marshall leaving their WR core pretty depleted for that big play guy. Although this year has had its highs and lows.
Expectations were huge going into the year with Jay Cutler at QB and Shonn Greene at HB as well as their newly aquired Rookie TE Munchie Cosh.
Cutler has been a flop throwing well over 30 picks and has found himself put on the trade block with little or no interest so there is no question that the Saints will be looking for a QB in the draft this year even if they have to trade Jay Cutler away from a bag of potato chips and a coke....definately dont see Cutler in this teams plans for the future. Dan Lefevour has seen limited playing time in games with Sean Payton has got sick of Jay Cutlers knack for reading defenses and throwing into coverage but hasnt been much better himself.
Cutler was recently asked about how he felt about his future with the Team and said, "Well all I can reall do is go out there and play week to week and hope to improve my game so that the team would consider keeping me around next year."
All in all I would say the future isnt looking to bright for Cutler in New Orleans
Shonn Greene has be solid but not as good as expected this year showing up more in some games than others but when Sean Payton was asked about his future with the team he had this to say, "Shonn is in our long term plans and he is a tremendous power back he just hasnt found that grove this year but that is no reason to give up on him. He just lacks another consistant option behind him to mix things up a little bit." This was said by Sean Payton before the breaking news of the team aquiring speedster Jerious Norwood as an option behind Greene at RB.
The real lone big bright spot on offense has had to been TE Munchie Cosh who has more than lived up to his expectations this year and has become a solid threat in the passing game. 55 receptions(3rd in NFL) 893 yds.(6th in NFL) 5TD(T-19th NFL) through 10 games makes him a solid competitor for NFC Rookie of the Year honors. The team is hoping that Cosh can keep up this production throughout his career. But he has been the main target in an offense that has lacked any real receiving options with #1 Wideout Andre Caldwell missing half of the season so far with a broken collarbone they acquire WR Mario Manningham to help give the team another option and the team will have Manningham and Caldwell intact for the first time going into their week 12 match up with the Panthers.
The defense has been good at time but not great. They tend to get cocky and start to give up the big play. They have aquired rookie CB Quantavious McNeil to fit into the mix with Jabari Greer, Carlos Rodgers and Macho Harris at CB. The linebacker core has been the most solid unit out of the whole defense with Akeem Jordan going down in week 1 with a fractured foot Ahmad Brooks stepped in and filled in nicely in his absence only to go down 1 week before Jordans return. DeMeco Ryans and Mike Fokou have been solid in the middle with great play from ROLB Jyles Tucker.
The team had drafted Rookie DE Shaynon Douglas and hadnt really got much out of him and traded him away for a package of players and a few picks so Ty Warren has been filling that void. It will be interesting to see what happens to the defensive line in the offseason because they have been everybit of ineffective.
All and all this has been a miserable season for the Saints who are hoping that next year is much improved over this embarassing campaign.....

Re: Saints Rebuilding for Next Year
sounds like your puttin together a good team though, an ty warrens a beast in this game...any rb that runs past him usually gets sucked right into a tackle animation plus he has a pretty good pass rush as well. i also like u got some speed to compliment green and a hot new rookie qb may just be the answer the saints have been looking for.
