CJ Scores Three TD's for Broncos in Win Over Chiefs Empty CJ Scores Three TD's for Broncos in Win Over Chiefs

Only hours after getting off the plane in Denver, All-Pro running back Chris Johnson showed Broncos fans his value in a heated battle with AFC West upstart Kansas City. After a slow start Johnson ended up with 128 yards rushing and three TD's
Coming into the game, the 3-3 Chiefs were hoping to make a statement. However, if this was a "statment game", the only message sent is that the Chiefs, although improved, still aren't ready to contend for the AFC West title.
The game started out promising for Chiefs fans, as Kansas City took the opening kickoff and drove it down inside the Broncos' 10 yard line. However, after a delay of game penalty and a sack, the Chiefs had to settle for a field goal.
After the kickoff, the Chiefs looked to be in a strong position again, as linebacker Sean Lee intercepted an errant Phillip Rivers pass at the Broncos 30 yard line. Once again, the Broncos defense showed their resolve, and again the Chiefs had to settle for an Olindo Mare field goal.
Coach Blammers admitted that those stalled drives really hurt: "When you're facing a team as good as the Broncos, you can't settle for field goals."
In the second quarter, the Broncos started rolling, ripping of 14 unaswered points. They continued to dominate into the second half as Johnson broke free for a 65 yard touchdown in the third quarter.
To their credit, the Chiefs fought back. Rookie WR Jamel Bonner caught a Ben Rothlesberger touchdown pass early in the 4th quarter, and a Jason Witten 2 point conversion put the Chiefs within 7. Late in the 4th quarter, Kansas City was able to tie the game as Dez Bryant capped a Chiefs scoring drive with an 18 yard TD reception. With 2 minutes left in the game, and the score tied 21-21 it looked like overtime.
However, Coach Jmojsoski was not worried, as he watched his team march down the field and drive a dagger into the Chiefs with a perfectly placed 35 yard TD strike from Rivers to Rookie wideout Cordell Butler, "They fought us hard out there today, but we're a veteran team, and we've been here before. I had confidence that our guys would get it done."
As for Johnson's performance on such a short week, Jmojsoski wasn't surprised by that either. "The guy is an absolute beast. He doesn't need a lot of time to study a playbook. He just makes plays. I think we're going to be a tough team to handle with CJ back there."
